A CONSTRUCTION company has been charged with alleged workplace safety breaches over the 2010 death of a worker building the state's new desalination plant.
SafeWork SA today announced it had laid charges against Ferro Con (SA) Pty Ltd and its owner, which will be prosecuted in the Industrial Relations Court.
On 16 July 2010, Brett Fritsch, 35, died in an industrial incident at the Adelaide Desalination Plant construction site when a steel beam being lifted by a crane fell and struck him.
SafeWork SA will allege that its investigation into the circumstances surrounding Mr Fritsch's death identified breaches of the Occupational Health, Safety and Welfare Act (1986).
The case will be heard on a date to be set.
