Perth's wild stormy weather here to stay

WILD weather will continue to lash Perth for the rest of the week - with severe storms tipped to peak on Tuesday.
A flash downpour left sections of the metropolitan area knee-deep in water on Friday night, with the Kwinana Freeway and Riverside Drive flooded.
Subiaco, Wembley, Hillarys and Floreat also bore the brunt of showers, causing headaches for motorists and revellers heading for a night out.
Mount Lawley recorded 30mm of rainfall in just 30 minutes, while South Perth copped 48mm.
About 127 calls were made to emergency services to report storm damage on Friday night, with a further 40 lodged yesterday.
Fire and Emergency Services Authority spokesman Les Hayter said Perth residents should brace themselves for another severe cold front early this week.
“Most of the calls for emergency services were from residents who hadn’t prepared for the storms and had left too much debris and leaves in their gutters,” he said.
“It’s nice to see we’re getting the rain, but people need to take the steps to prepare for wild weather.
“Homeowners should use the rest of the weekend to get ready for the Tuesday front.”
To prepare, FESA advises residents to:
* Trim branches around your home to prevent them falling on your roof or car and hire a contractor to clear trees from powerlines.
* Check your roof and gutters for damage or loose material. Replace any damaged or missing tiles.
* Clear gutters and downpipes of leaves and blockages so they don’t over flow after heavy rain.
* Store or weigh down loose objects around your home like outdoor furniture, playground equipment and sheds.
* Prepare an emergency kit with a portable battery operated radio, torch, spare batteries and a first aid kit.
