DINERS at a US restaurant given a discount for parting with their phones in desperate bid to get them to notice each other.
Well one US restaurant has had enough. In a desperate bid to get customers to engage with each other, Eva Restaurant Los Angeles is offering a five per cent discount to customers willing to leave their phones with staff while seated, the UK’s Daily Mail.
Owner Mark Gould told KPCC radio he hopes the policy will create an environment where diners can connect with each other, without the interference of technology.
He denied that the policy was implemented for the sake of fellow restaurant-goers annoyed by those using their phones.
Nearly half of diners have taken up the offer, with many actually relieved to be free of their devices for a while, according to Gould.
