GIAAN Rooney and her husband, Sam Levett, are expecting their first child. The former Olympic swimmer confirmed today she is 14 weeks pregnant.
“We are absolutely, completely over the moon,’’ Rooney told Confidential.
“Sam has probably wanted to be a dad since he was about 15, and he’s absolutely beside himself.
“For me, I always knew it would happen, but I guess I really needed to be in the right time and right space.
“We are very fortunate and we are ready for it to happen.
“It finally feels real now, which is great.’’
Rooney said the pregnancy was going well. “I’ve been really lucky, I haven’t really been unwell that much,’’ she said.
“We had the 12-week scan and everything is OK.’’
Rooney is set to play a part in Channel 7’s racing coverage, which this year will include the Melbourne Racing Club’s Caulfield Cup Carnival as well as the Spring Racing Carnival at Flemington.
“It’s going to be massive,’’ she said.
“I don’t exactly know my role but I know for the major race days I’ll be out there, but my heels will just have to be a little shorter.’’
