Taylor excited by new-look Souths 8:01 AM March 1
South Sydney coach Jason Taylor says he is comfortable with the increased expectations that will be placed on his side in the National Rugby League this year.
The Rabbitohs have finished at the bottom in three of the past four seasons but are expected to improve this year after signing several big-name recruits including New Zealand international trio Roy Asotasi, David Kidwell, and Nigel Vagana.
Taylor said Rabbitohs supporters should be excited about the new-look team.
"People have often been talking to me about the excitement and the fact that fans are expecting a lot and sort of talking about the fact that we might have to live up to that," he said.
"And I've said that I'm really keen for the fans to be excited. There's no doubt that we've got some great players that have come to the club and that on paper the team looks very strong. "
"So I want people to be excited about what Souths might be able to do this year."
Meanwhile, the Rabbitohs will meet St George Illawarra in the annual Charity Shield match at Sydney's Olympic Stadium on Saturday night, and Dragons coach Nathan Brown said Souths appeared to have put together a very strong team.
"I've never seen South Sydney field a side that strong. I've been down here now here 15 or 16 years, that's their strongest side by a mile," Brown said. Source: ABC
