Socceroos to face China in friendly
8:44 PM February 28

The Socceroos are scheduled to face Asian heavyweights China next month as part of warm-ups for the Asian Cup which starts in Thailand in July.

The two teams will meet in the China's southern boomtown of Guangzhou on March 24.

China is calling on all national players currently with European clubs to return for the match.

"We are currently consulting with European teams for the return of our players," spokesman Dong Hua said.

The Chinese side took second place to Japan in the 2003 Asian Cup which was played in China, only to fail to qualify for the 2006 World Cup.
