Govt to review children's television standards
9:10 PM February 27

Communications Minister Helen Coonan says the Government will review children's television standards later this year.

Labor has questioned the Government as to whether it would strengthen media legislation to protect children from exploitation.

Last year, the Australia Institute published a report on the sexualisation of children in the media.

Senator Coonan says the Government takes the issue very seriously.

"The review is going to be undertaken later this year and should be completed early next year," she said.

"All commercial television broadcasters are also governed by the Commercial Television Industry Code of Practice."
