King-hit accused in court

THE parents of a man who was left fighting for his life after he was allegedly king-hit from behind outside a Darwin pub have seen their son's attacker for the first time.
Jesse French, 18, was allegedly assaulted by Christopher Maha James Morrow, 28, in a random attack outside Shenannigans Irish Bar, on Mitchell St, on Sunday morning. REAL HEROES WALK AWAY Mr French's family and friends sat in the gallery at Darwin Magistrates Court to see Mr Morrow in the dock.His defence lawyer Peter Maley asked magistrate Michael Carey for the case to be adjourned until Friday for a bail application.He also told the court he wanted to watch CCTV footage of the incident before applying for bail.One punch manslaughter legislation activist Amee Meredith - whose husband died when he was king-hit at Club 23, in Katherine, on New Year's Day 2010 - supported the French family in court.
