Live: Lions vs Crows
Sat August 18, 2012 10:09pm
The Brisbane Lions have turned around a disastrous opening term to snatch an upset 10-point win over the Adelaide Crows at the Gabba tonight.
The Brisbane Lions have pulled off the upset of the round with a 13.17 (95)-12.13 (85) defeat of high-flying Adelaide Crows at the Gabba tonight.
Down 38 points at quarter time, the game looked destined to follow the script suggested by the 11 places that separate the sides on the ladder.
However, the roles were reversed in astonishing fashion for the remainder of the night, as the Lions, led by Jack Redden (30 disposals) pulled off a victory reminiscent of their round-10 win over West Coast Eagles on the same ground.
Rohan Bewick kicked three goals for Brisbane, who will take confidence and momentum out of the game, if not any meaningful progress on the ladder.
Read on to see how it played out:
Fulltime: And the siren sounds another unlikely victory for the Lions. As they did against West Coast here in round 10, the Lions stood up in the final term to run out 13.17 (95)-12.13 (85) winners.
Q4 27th: Adelaide make a mess of it at the back and Rockliff pounces. He sends his shot in from near 50m and the Lions lead 95-85 with less than a minute left.
Q4 24th: Johncock marks but hurts his ankle in the contest. He hands it off to Callinan, who pushed his last shot wide. He makes no mistake this time though and it’s a four-point game.
Q4 22nd: Crows coming forward now and Callinan marks in front of goal. He's been a good kick tonight, but he sprays this one wide right. Lions lead 89-79.
