A WOMAN working behind the counter of a takeaway shop in Sydney's south has been hit with a golf club during a robbery.
A struggle took place shortly before 7.30pm (AEST) on Sunday when a man entered the premises on Cambrai Avenue in Engadine and attempted to steal money from the cash register.
The woman produced a golf club from under the counter, but the man took it from her and struck her on the head with it, leaving her with a gash requiring numerous stitches.
She then ran from the shop and the man stole her wallet from her handbag.
He drove away in a stolen Ford Escape which was later recovered on Engadine Avenue, Engadine.
The man was wearing a grey hooded jumper.
