Sat August 11, 2012 9:01pm

A MAN has been charged with stabbing a woman in the face during an argument in southern NSW.

A dispute escalated shortly after 2am (AEST) on Saturday at a house in the town of Batlow.

Police allege the 35-year man assaulted the 30-year-old woman before stabbing her in the face with a pair of scissors.

The injured woman then ran from the Hickory Lane property but he chased her to a local hotel, where he allegedly continued the assault.

A number of onlookers helped the woman, who sought medical assistance at Batlow Hospital before paramedics transferred her to Tumut Hospital.

The man was later taken to Tumut police station where he was charged with wounding with intent and with reckless wounding.

He was refused bail to appear in Wagga Wagga Local Court on Sunday.
