A FORMER Queensland police commander who was busted importing illegal firearm parts has had his gun licence reinstated.
Ex-water police head, Alan Jeffrey Magarry, was placed on a $4000 two-year good behaviour bond in July 2010 after pleading guilty in Brisbane Magistrates Court to three counts of importing prohibited goods under the Customs Act.
No conviction was recorded, however the police service cancelled his firearms licence.
Magarry appealed this decision in the Queensland Civil and Administrative Tribunal in May.
In a written judgment published on Friday, the tribunal ordered his licence be reinstated after finding there was no evidence Magarry was at risk of misusing a weapon in the future.
