A MAN has been charged after allegedly leading police on a two-hour pursuit in a stolen milk-tanker through southeastern Victoria.
Police say they began chasing the tanker, loaded with 22,000 litres of milk, in Sale about 4am on Saturday after it was stolen from a transport yard in nearby Maffra.
They chased the milk tanker for close to two hours on the Princes and Monash freeways, twice deploying tyre-puncturing stop sticks, before several blown-out tyres brought the truck to a stop.
A 20-year-old Maffra man was arrested on the Police Road off-ramp of the Monash Freeway at Mulgrave.
His charges include theft of 22,000 litres of milk, theft of a motor vehicle and reckless conduct endangering life.
He will remain in police custody until a hearing in Melbourne Magistrates Court on Monday.
