Girl, 16, charged over bus driver assault

A 16-year-old girl has been charged after allegedly assaulting a Gold Coast bus driver two days ago.
Police said the girl caught the bus about 6.50pm on Tuesday at a West Burleigh Road shopping centre and refused to pay the fare. She then asssaulted the 40-year-old male bus driver, police allege.
The girl was charged with one count of assault occasioning bodily harm.
She will be dealt with under the provisions of the Youth Justice Act, police said.
