myZOO FAQ

1. Has myZOO replaced OptusNet?

Yes. We've taken your favourite features from OptusNet and combined them with exciting new content from ninemsn. myZOO features Optus Mobile, Member Services, My Usage and Webmail together with rich content from ninemsn.

MyZOO offers you access to advanced personalisation features on your homepage so you can create the page you want.

3. What is personalisation?

Personalisation allows you to choose the content you see on your myZOO homepage.

For example, you may be interested in news, sport and weather, but have no interest in stock markets quotes or what your horoscope is today. Personalisation with myZOO allows you to choose what you do and don't want - so the myZOO homepage really becomes your very own homepage!

In addition to all the content that myZOO provides, you also have the option to include RSS feeds in your homepage. RSS feeds are content streams from other websites, so for example you may want to add live cricket scores from www.baggygreen.com.au

4. Will my Homepage be personalised on all computers?

You can sign in to myZOO from any internet connection. So long as you are signed-in your myZOO personalised home page will be displayed.

5. Is Member Services the same as before?

Member Services has a fantastic new look and feel, with all the same functionality as before.

6. I have forgotten my password. Where can I get it reset?

If you have forgotten your password please contact Optus Customer Care who will be able to assist you.

7. What is myZOO?

Optus and ninemsn have put together a brand new site; we've taken your favourite features from OptusNet and combined them with exciting new content from ninemsn.

Personalisation is even better on myZOO; you can redesign your homepage to suit you with more content options and modules you can drag and drop into place.

All Member Services tools and ISP features are still only one click away, at the top of every page. To take full advantage of myZOO and all of the personalisation features you will be provided with a Windows Live ID that will allow you to sign in to myZOO.

8. I had my OptusNet homepage personalised. Are these settings on myZOO?

If you personalised Stocks, Favourite Links, Horoscope or TV Guide on OptusNet, these preferences automatically appear on myZOO when signed in.

9. Is there any change to the way I log into the homepage?

Yes, the format in which you log in has changed. Now when you log in to the homepage, you will need to enter your username and password in the format of username@optusnet.com.au

To Sign In to the homepage please click Sign In on the right hand side in the header. This will take you through to the Sign In page, where you can Sign In with your Windows Live ID. If you don't yet have a Windows Live ID, please follow the instructions to the right of the Sign In box.

10. What happened to the mobile ZOO portal?

The Zoo mobile portal has been moved, you can find it either by clicking the Mobile button in the homepage header, or by going directly to www.optuszoo.com.au/mobile

11. What is a Windows Live ID?

Windows Live ID (previously called .NET Passport and Microsoft Passport Network) is a "unified-login" service developed and provided by Microsoft that allows users to log in to many websites using one account.

12. Why do I need a Windows Live ID?

You need a Windows Live ID to be able to Sign In to the myZOO homepage in order to personalise your home page.

13. How do I get a Windows Live ID?

To get a Windows Live ID please go to the Windows Live ID set up page and follow the process.

14. I already have a Windows Live ID in the format of username@optusnet.com.au. Can I use this?

Yes. You will be able to use this, but the first time you Sign In to the myZOO homepage you will need to go through a quick and easy process of verifying and linking your Windows Live ID with your Optus login credentials. This will give you access to new and future services on myZOO.

15. How do I change my Windows Live ID password?

You can change your password in myZOO Member Services. DSL customers, remember to change your password in your modem as well as in Member Services. DSL customers, for more information click here

16. I have accidentally used http://www.passport.com to change my password and now my password works on myZOO but not on Member Services.

If you have used www.passport.com to change your password, instead of member services and find that you can log into myZOO but not member services you can try the following:

Access Member Services and select the change password option in member services and enter your old password in both new password and confirm password fields.

This will resynchronise your ISP and your Windows Live ID passwords. NB: Remember when you want to change your password in the future any changes made through member services will also flow through to your Windows Live ID.

17. Why does myZOO take longer to load than the OptusNet portal?

myZOO is packed with new features, extra content and the latest web technology, so you may find that it takes slightly longer to load.

18. Can I sign in to the myZOO portal using my Hotmail or Windows Live email address?

If you have a Hotmail or Windows Live Mail email address you won't be able to use it to sign in to the myZOO portal. Only Optus versions of Windows Live IDs in the format username@optusnet.com.au will enable you to sign in to personalise the myZOO portal. 19. Can I sign in to the myZOO portal using my Optus Zoo Mobile login?

If you use you mobile phone number and password to sign in to the Optus Zoo Mobile website you won't be able to use these to sign in to the myZOO portal. Only Optus versions of Windows Live IDs in the format username@optusnet.com.au will enable you to sign in to personalise the myZOO portal. 20. I have setup myZOO but I can't see my preferences from OptusNet on the new site.

You will need to sign-in to myZOO using your Windows Live ID (username@optusnet.com.au). This will allow you to see your preferences from OptusNet and to personalise the other features of the new portal via the personalise button.

21. I have signed into myZOO, why do I have to sign-in again to Webmail?

To make your experience more secure we have separated signing-in to myZOO from signing-in to Webmail. This means that if you sign-in to myZOO and leave your computer no one else can have a look at your email.

22. Why do I have to log out of myZOO to log into Hotmail or Instant Messenger with another Windows Live ID?

myZOO uses a unique WLID that does not have an associated Hotmail mailbox (username@optusnet.com.au). While you can use this to log into Instant Messenger, you will need to use a different account to access Hotmail. If you use multiple Windows Live ID's you will need to sign-in separately each time.

23. How do I get the old page back?

You won't be able to get the old page back, but we hope you like the new one, it has most of the same great content, and also has a lot of new content from over 80 content channels.

24. I transfer buddies (contacts) from one Windows Live ID / Messenger account to another?

Yes, there is a simply process you can follow to do this:

  1. On your Windows Live Messenger go to the Contacts menu via the menu icon in the top right hand corner.
  2. On the Contacts menu, click Save Instant Messaging Contacts.
  3. Choose the location where you want to save the file, and then click Save.
You will now need to import your contacts to the other Windows Live Messenger account.

  2. On the Contacts menu, click Import Instant Messaging Contacts.
  3. Locate the contacts (.ctt) file on your computer, click Open, and then click Yes.

25. What can I use my username@optusnet.com.au for?

You can use your Windows Live ID for personalising myZOO, for using Windows Live Messenger and to create your own space at Windows Live Spaces.

26. What information are you sharing with ninemsn and MSN?

To allow you to personalise myZOO we need to allow ninemsn and MSN to have access to your username and password for personalisation i.e. your new Windows Live ID details. We don't share any other information with them.

27. If I sign up for a Windows Live ID does this mean you are selling my information to ninemsn and Microsoft?

No, we are not selling any of your information to anyone. But, to allow you to personalise myZOO we need to allow ninemsn and MSN to have access to your username and password for personalisation i.e. your new Windows Live ID details. We don't share any other information with them.

28. Is the myZOO homepage really heavy and will I use all my monthly data by having this page open?

The myZOO homepage is a web page using new standards that has been optimised for our Broadband customers. Dial-up customers will have access to a lighter page to ensure download speeds are acceptable.

There will be no effect to your monthly downloads by leaving this page open. The new portal homepage does not automatically refresh if you leave it open. You can refresh the content of the individual modules by clicking on the refresh module button.

29. What are the minimum browser requirements I need to view this page?

myZOO operates best with Internet Explorer, but also works with Firefox and Safari.

30. I'm a Linux user, how can I use myZOO?

Linux users can access myZOO by using the Linux version of the Firefox web browser. By using Firefox, Linux users can take full advantage of the rich content of the portal, its sign-in and personalisation features and access their email using Optus Webmail. Optus does not offer technical support for users of the Firefox browser.
